In 2001 Shelley Abegg was diagnosed with advanced stage of  breast cancer. As a single mother with a precious son she desired more than anything to live and be healthy. Shelley did some real searching for an answer. She decided to avoid chemo therapy and radiation in favor of raw food healing. Her story is inspiring and powerful.

"When I first went down this road, ninety-nine percent of the people in my world were devastated that I would make such a radical and unwise decision. Leaving the medical world for the raw food healing made most people very uncomfortable. I had people reflecting anger, tears of sadness and even threats. To others the ‘medical model’ seemed to be the only way to heal and they were extremely fearful that I would not survive if I choose a ‘natural model.’ I finally had to tell people that if they could not support me, then please stay away from me. With my own fears creeping up, I could not sustain fear and negative energy from others.

“I remember people watching me as though they expected to see me degenerate and die. But I didn’t look like I was dying. Some people would go so far as to say, ‘You don’t look like you have cancer or that you are going to die. You look younger and more beautiful. How can that be?’

“After doctors verified that I was healthy and cancer free, the tables turned. Many people are now coming with questions, respect and an open mind that perhaps there is power in raw food healing."
Shelley loves each day and appreciates her life! She has the joy of seeing her son grow into an amazing young man who has also adopted the raw food lifestyle. Raw food has become a big part of Shelley’s life. Sharing what she has learned with many others is one of  her goals. She is grateful to live in a time when the internet can carry her message far and wide. Her raw food recipes are luscious and gourmet. Her recipes truly make raw food a delight and not just a healthy option.
